Chevrolet Corvette ZR1

The 2009 Corvette ZR1 will go on sale in fall 2008.

BMW X6

The X6 represents BMW's attempt to marry a traditional coupe's sleekness and on-road dynamics with the visual bullishness and go-anywhere ability of an SUV.

BMW 1-series convertible

Pegged to go on sale in late spring, the BMW 1-series convertible will be offered in two variations: 128i models will have a 230 hp inline six, while 135i versions get a 300-hp twin-turbocharged inline six.

Ford F-150

Beneath the 2009 Ford F-150's fresh sheetmetal, engineers began by improving the rigidity of the fully boxed frame by 10 percent. According to Ford, better towing and hauling abilities are the result.

2009 Audi TT-S

It's been 10 years since the first Audi TT hit the streets, but the eagerly awaited, high-performance S version finally will make its debut at the Detroit auto show.
Vehicle type: Coupe, roadster

Seats: 2+2

Base engine: 2.0-liter, 272-hp inline turbocharged

On sale: November

Base price: $45,000-plus (estimated)

What's cool: The TT finally will come with an engine able to compete with BMW's Z4 M cars. Styling isn't radically different from other TT models but is different enough to stand out.
